These projects are typically done in conjunction with the design of a residential development or the planning for the revitalization of a community or neighborhood. Systematic in nature, the research is targeted to needs and/or conditions of the particular project and site. research can involve assessment of conditions prior to new development or revitalization; and/or evaluation after completion of a project. Some of the action research projects develop innovative tools and techniques that community members use in their planning and revitalization efforts.
