Kurt Creager

Executive Director

Kurt Creager is a housing and community development practitioner with over thirty years experience in the public and private sectors. He has particular expertise in transit-oriented and workforce housing development. In addition to being a direct developer of several thousand affordable dwellings, Mr. Creager has developed and administered public policies which encourage, support and facilitate affordable housing production, preservation and effective asset management.

Sherry Ahrentzen, Ph.D.
Associate Director for Research, Policy and Strategic Initiatives

For over twenty years, Dr. Sherry Ahrentzen's research has focused on new forms of housing and community environments to better accommodate the social and economic diversity of U.S. households and families. In addition to co-editing the book New Households, New Housing, she has over 50 published articles, chapters, and reports. As Associate Director for Research at the Stardust Center, Dr. Ahrentzen's efforts are directed towards producing and fostering research that gives constituents reliable information and new insights to inform design, development actions and policy decisions.

Ernesto Fonseca, Architect/Designer
Ernesto Fonseca holds a degree in architecture from the Universidad del Valle de México in the City of Querétaro, México, a Specialty in Soils from the Universidad de Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico, and a Master of Science in Building Design from ASU. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Environmental Design and Planning, also at ASU. He is a Mexican licensed architect with specialty is in energy performance, climate responsive architecture and sustainability. Mr. Fonseca has been working with the Center for the past three years helping to develop new sustainable design strategies as well as conducting research.

Nicolas Smith, Architect/Designer
Nic Smith has a B.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University. He is currently pursuing a Certificate in Sustainable Technology and Management through the School of Sustainability at ASU. He is responsible for helping to further the center's mission of providing culturally and environmentally responsive design for low income and workforce families.

Lisa Jackson , Accountant Senior

Lisa Jackson has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Accounting from ASU.  She has eighteen years of experience in financial and supply chain management.  Lisa spent four years pursuing her dream of teaching high school business before joining the Stardust Center.  She supports the Center with accounting and financial management oversight.  Lisa teaches Marketing in the Distance Learning Program at NAU.
